If It Weren’t For The Rotary Club of Woodinville …

    1. Little Leaguers could still be looking for a place to play.
    2. Wilmot Gateway Park would be missing many features.
    • 3. Maltby Food Bank would still be looking for a home.
    • 4. Thousands of kids will face winter without a new, warm coat.
    • 5. Rotary Community Park would be just a draftsman’s vision.
    • 6. Without Just Right Reading and summer reading programs, kids fall behind more.
    • 7. Mobile Mexico won’t serve over 300 mobility-challenged individuals.
    • 8. Northshore Scholarship Foundation wouldn’t surpass year 30.
    • 9. No music in halls of the Secondary Academy for Success.
    • 10. Two fewer buses at the Northshore Senior Center.
    • 11. Dreams of college and career would be just that—a dream.
    • 12. Josh the Otter water safety might not have found Puget Sound.
    • 13. Small local farmers would not have a cold storage facility to preserve fresh food for those in need.

“Thanks to the Rotary Club of Woodinville we have a multi-purpose space used by people of all ages. This has been a tremendous asset and outlet for kids with a passion for skateboarding. Without their support this space would have been lost to development.”

Community
In the spirit of public-private partnerships, Woodinville Rotary has played a key role in the development of three Woodinville community parks and continues ongoing stewardship of the Rotary Community Skate and Peace Park. The park features a skateboard facility, climbing rock, picnic shelter and playground. A boardwalk trail system, built by Rotarians, meanders through an 18-acre idyllic natural habitat setting.

Education
As a co-manager of the Scholarship Foundation of Northshore, Woodinville Rotary has been a party to awarding over 2,00 scholarships, providing more than $3,000,000 to graduates of our local schools. Woodinville Rotary alone has paid directly for 330 of the 1,800+ grants and has sponsored “camperships” for students of all ages to take part in summer programs. Recently the club raised nearly $32,000 for three elementary schools for the Just Right Reading project.

Environment
Since the inception of the Rotary Club of Woodinville in 1987 we have been stewards and champions of the environment through various local and international projects. Our current efforts focus on leading our voice, volunteers and community connections to amplify existing environmental projects with a focus on making it easy for community members to act on their topic of interest. One of our current projects is supporting pollination through education and pollination friendly wine barrel planters througout our community. Other projects include, First and Climate Smart Farming to affect climate change through soil regeneration and by supporting small local farmers in the Sammamish River Valley along with building a cold storage facility to preserve fresh food longer so that it can get to those in need. Another project is an Earth Day lithium ion battery recycling event. Partnering with district 5030 Rotary and Redwood Materials to recycle and reuse components of these batteries n new products.

International
Working with other Rotary clubs in Mexico and in the Puget Sound area, Woodinville Rotarians partnered with PUSH International. More than 300 people with mobility issues in Mexico have been personally fitted with devices to make life more tolerable. Woodinville Rotarians have led multiple medical missions to provide on-site clinical treatment in remote areas of Peru and Pakistan, and is an ongoing sponsor of the Dolan Family Peace Project in Haiti. The Rotary Club of Woodinville also provides support to Rotary’s End Polio Now program. Woodinville Rotary financed a manufacturing plant in rural, isolated Kiminini, Kenya to annually produce 10,000 safe, water filters for the village. The club’s investment was $25,000 and was inspired by students at University of Washington Bothell.
